UFC of history
Championship (Russian: Абсолютный бойцовский схемпионат — Ultimate Fighting Championship) is a mixed martial arts (also known as MMA) sports organization based in Las Vegas, United States. The organization was created to compete among the best athletes from around the world and is owned and managed by Zuffa, a subsidiary of Endeavor Group Holdings.
The success of the first tournament, held in Denver in 1993, prompted new events, but pressure from the state of Nevada forced the company to make significant rule changes, turning the event from a spectacle to a sport.[1]
In 2001, after Station Casinos was acquired by owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta and former boxing promoter Dana White was named president of the organization, KFC began an aggressive expansion in the United States and other countries.
In 2007, the UFC became one of the largest promoters of mixed martial arts in the world, following the acquisition of arch-rival Pride Fighting Championships of Japan.
As of 2012, the UFC has hosted some of the best MMA fighters in the world[3]. Also, the fights are broadcasted in 130 countries in 20 different languages .
The octagon (or octagon) - the cage in which fights are held has become a symbol of the UFC and has not changed since the first tournament.
Early UFC tournaments were held in the bantamweight division, and the weight difference between the two fighters sometimes reached 180 kilograms, as in the UFC 3 fight between Keith Hackney and Emmanuel Yarborough.[5][6][7] However, UFC fights have often proven that height and weight are not the deciding factor for victory.
